Alexander Technique Lessons - What To Expect

I'm often asked what happens in an Alexander Technique lesson and I usually answer by saying you'll have to try one because it's not easy to put into words the unique sensations that come from the sessions. However, I can promise you that a good teacher will be able to show you something you won't have experienced before - no matter how long you've been training.

The technique is best learnt on a one-to-one basis but you may find a teacher who runs group introductory courses or sessions specifically for one sport such as running. First you need to find a qualified teacher.

Finding A Teacher

A qualified Alexander teacher will have completed a full-time, three year training course and belong to a recognised professional society, the majority of teachers are members of STAT or PAAT. Note, a teacher does not necessarily need to know much about your sport as they will focus on your basic movement patterns that constitute your sporting techniques.
